Solarino is a municipality in the province of Syracusa, on Sicily Italy just a few miles (15 km west) from the capital also called Syracusa. It rises on the slopes of the mountains Iblei, and is built on the right of the Anapo River. Solarino is about 190 km southeast of Palermo mainly an agriculture centre, with the main cultivations. The hilly areas around town are characterized by Mediterranean scrub, citrus and olive groves also almond, carob and fig trees and other fruit. There are also numerous cow and sheep farms spread around the region. Solarino is also the third largest city of the province, after Syracuse and Floridia. The whole municipality is built on an area of hills called the Val del’Anapa, E670 which gradually degrades towards the plains of Syracuse.
