Baschi is a small town of 2,709 inhabitants, located in the region of Umbria, Italy. The city formed around one of the earliest fortified castles to be built in Italy. The castle in question was supposedly built in the 9th century by a Carolingian official named Ugolino of Biscay. Ugolino apparently named the castle after his place of origin, the Basque Countries. The town was named after the castle. The town and castle stand on the banks of the Tiber River. Many tourists from Rome and abroad visit the town in the summer, filling up the Baschi hotels.

The biggest point of interest in the town is the Basque Castle itself, magnificent and pompous. Another interesting destination is the Parish Church of St. Nicholas, which has a 15th century polypych by Di Paolo. The shore of the Tiber river is itself an attraction, a perfect place for scenic walk or even swimming. Use EasyToBook.com to find hotels in Baschi.
