Interesting Bardonecchia attractions include Forte Bramafam, a fort constructed between the years 1874 and 1889 in the hills above the town to protect against French and other enemy troops. It occupies an area of over 64,000 square meters and includes, in the main area, two barracks. One was for the troops, and consists of two levels, while the second was for the officers. This was one of the first Italian forts to use innovative artillery techniques, in which pieces of artillery were no longer installed on wheeled mounts, but under an armored cupola able to rotate 360°.

Over the years, a great deal of work has been done on the fort to recuperate important structures and make of it a popular tourist attraction, given the fact that the fort is a considered a treasure of military architecture. Indeed, it is one of the only surviving examples of a stone military structure that began using the technological innovations of the final decades of the 19th century. Thanks to its importance, its architectural and historical wealth has been transformed into a museum. Tourists can visit the barracks and various excavated galleries, as well as admire uniforms, vehicles, and pieces of artillery.
