The Dominicans took possession of the site of the Church of il Gesuati in the 17th century. They began construction of the church in 1726. They named it the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Rosario. The locals begged to differ when Giorgio Massari took charge. The architectural style of choice was Palladian, based it on Palladio’s Redentore.
