The church of San Stae is dedicated to Sant Eustachio. It sits directly on the Grand Canal. The canal is a favorite spot to find a hotel in Venice, one hopefully close to the Church of San Stae. The Church of San Stae has a Baroque façade.This is part of the legacy funded by Doge Alvise Mocenigo. In 1709 he paid for the reconstruction of this 17th century church. The architect was Domenico Rossi. The front of the building was sculpted in an elaborate Palladian style with Baroque touches here and there. In fact, the front of the Church is covered with every saint possible.

The interior is calmer - cooler. It consists of a single nave with barrel vaulting. There are works of several great 18th century artists in the chancel. On the left wall, you can see Giambattista Tieppolo’s Il Martirio di San Bartolomeo (1722). On the left wall hangs La Liberazione di San Pietro by Sebastiano Ricci (1659-1734).
