Hotel Continental Venice
Overlooking the Grand Canal, only 15 minutes from the celebrated Rialto Bridge, the Hotel Continental Venice offers a privileged location. The hotel can be found in Lista di Spagna, just before the beginning of Strada Nova, one of the city's main pedestrian streets and unquestionably the most picturesque stroll between the train station and Rialto. There are many shops along the way, numerous "bacari" (traditional Venetian snack bars) and a colorful neighbourhood market near Ponte delle Guglie.
The Hotel Continental, housed in a beautiful 14th century palace, is run by third generation hotel owners. It has been beautifully restored and has managed to retain the original charm of the era when it functioned as one of the departments of the Spanish Embassy, during the time of the "Serenissima" Venetian Republic.
The rooms at the Hotel Continental Venice are among the best to be found in a three-star Venice hotel. Full of light, each has a private bathroom with a bathtub or shower and a hairdryer. Other features, such as air-conditioning, direct-dial telephones, satellite TV and a safe, guarantee you a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The restaurant is an additional source of pride for Hotel Continental. Charming, open until late at night, it is located in a very pleasant room and has a splendid view of Canal Grande. The "a la carte" menu features typical Venetian cuisine specialties, skillfully and creatively interpreted by the chef, who also offers the best international cuisine dishes, to satisfy the tastes of the hotel's increasingly cosmopolitan guests. The most prestigious Venetian, Italian and international wines from a well-stocked cellar accompany the delicious food. The terrace is very romantic for truly special dinners by candlelight. Room service is available.

Cons: The reception staff were unfriendly, made no eye contact, took no interest in us. the foyer was glossy but our room did not live up to this at all. it was small, faced on to the blank wall of an alley so one could not see out at all. the bed was comfortable and clean but had a very unattractive candlewick bedspread and only two very flat pillows. most hotels have extra pillows available in the cupboard. this one did not which was a problem as my husband had difficulty breathing and had to prop himself up with coats etc under his pillow. there was an electric kettle but the tea, once used, was not replaced and there was no milk.
i could go on. this hotel markedly lacked the personal touch and had pretensions to which it could not live up. i would advise holiday makers in venice to look elsewhere.
Cons: The rooms were very small but then it is venice and very dated.
Cons: Slight odour from the canal, which will undoubtedly worsen as the summer progresses, but this is venice after all.
Cons: Pillows not great, staff not very friendly.
good price for a bottle of beer on the balcony.(4 euro) d timiney
Cons: No view, could only see the yard.
Cons: I had som problems with my creditcard just before departure. the hotel was very resistante to help me.
