The province of Vibo Valentia is located in the southern Italian region of Calabria; it is bathed on the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The capital city of the province, also called Vibo Valentia, was colonized even before Greek times and boasts a wealth of artistic and historical monuments for tourists to enjoy. Check out the imposing and impressive Norman-Hohenstaufen Castle, the Cathedral, constructed in the 9th century, the Church of Santa Ruba, built around the year 1000, and the Church of the Rosary, built in the year 1337 over a pre-existing Roman theater. The city is also popular for its spectacular beaches. Head out of the capital city to check out the other towns of the province, such as Ricadi; attractions here include beautiful views over the magnificent beaches, as well as an important farming museum.
