Asiago Hotels and Accommodation
Asiago is a town in the province of Vicenza; the upland, or altopiano, on which it is located, between the Astico and Brenta rivers, rises high above the Padana plane. Some areas of the town are protected by high mountains. It is these mountains that make excellent skiing locations during the winter; indeed, Asiago is known for its winter sports. Summer sees Asiago as a tourist destination as well, with its mountain bike and hiking trails, and various other sporting activities, some extreme. As with the majority of Italian cities, though, Asiago also preserves much of its history and the monuments housed in town are a testimony to that.
There is the Duomo di San Matteo, or St. Mathew’s Cathedral, on which construction started in the 14th century. Something a bit more modern is the Palazzo Municipale, on which construction started in the 1920s. Even more modern is the Astrophysics Observatory, inaugurated in 1942. Don’t miss the Museo all’Aperto di Monte Zebio, an open-air museum in which tourists visit military trenches, tunnels and stations dug into the caves in the Asiago area. If you want sporting activities and history in one week or even weekend, Asiago is perfect. Use EasyToBook.com to find the discount hotels Asiago has to offer; if not in Asiago, cheap hotels can be found in the surrounding area.
