Midway between Tokyo and Yokohama, the city of Kawasaki sits on the west shore of Tokyo bay. The city is home to quite a bit of heavy industry, and the area around Tokyo bay is mostly industrial, so sightseeing is limited to a few key points of interest, the best of which are the 12-th century Kawasaki Daishi, or Buddhist temple, and the old Korean Town. Sports are popular in the city, and Kawasaki had a professional baseball stadium (Kawasaki Stadium) until 1991. The facility is still used, though it mainly hosts American football games today. The Todoroki Athletics Stadium is home to Kawasaki’s professional soccer team, the Kawasaki Frontale.
