Nagasaki on the island of Kyushu is a place most known for having been devastated by an atomic bomb. But like a phoenix, it has risen from the ashes and is now a very modern and vibrant city to visit. Its strategic location has made it quite famous and important as a port and it is well worth taking a stroll around the harbor. Or you can go to the wonderfully serene Peace Park, which is a place for quiet contemplation. Mount Inasa offers some wonderful views of the city and you should also try to get down to Chinatown, where the food is superb and you really feel like you are actually in China! Make sure that you also check out the Meganebashi Bridge as well, which is one of the landmarks of Nagasaki.
