It is also very cultured and you will find lots to do here, from visiting the Art Museum, to going to the Historical Museum. The Palace Aquarium is also well worth a visit. But you should also leave some time so that you can walk up to the mountain that forms the backdrop to Oita and from Mount Kuroki you can get some really fantastic views. The journey up to the Mountain, or part way up, does require good mobility, but try to get up as far as you can: the effort is definitely worth it.
