The Museum of Ceramics is one of the most fascinating museums that you can find in Lithuania, known as one of the best Kaunas attractions. This, as the museum depicts the development of the professional ceramic industry in Lithuania that started way back in 1931. This was when the Kaunas Art School had furnaces installed and a clay processing equipment established. The museum displays the ceramic works done by the graduates of Art School.
Aside from these, the Museum of Ceramics also houses a collection of archaeological ceramics as well. Although this has been among the recent acquisitions of the museum, it totals some 30,000 items that were transferred from Kaunas Conservation Institute's Department of Archaeology into the museum. These ceramics were from the excavations done in the old town area of the city and its surrounding parts during 1968 to 1997. Located near to some of the hotels in Kaunas, the museum is joins the ranks of the other attractions in the city like the Ninth Fort, the Kaunas Zoo and the Kaunas Ghetto.
