Music festivals are among the most popular festivities anywhere and this is also true in the capital city of Lithuania. One of these is the Vilnius International Jazz Festival which is among the most awaited activities in Vilnius. From your hotel in Vilnius, you can easily go to this festival. This annual music event is joined by jazz musicians across the globe, who come to Lithuania to showcase their talents in singing or playing out some soul and rhythm and blues. This, as the concerts of the festival are staged in different venues like the Neringa Restaurant, the Russian Drama Theatre and L'Amour Music Club. The festival was first organized in 1988 by Antanas Gustys, who made every effort to hold the event in the same year as the country gained its independence. The first jazz musicians who took part in th festival came from neighboring places. These include East Germany, Latvia, Poland, Russia and Hungary. There were also musicians from other countries like the USA, Finland, West Germany, Australia and Netherlands.
