Kensington in London

Popularly known as the site of the residence of the late Princess Margaret, Kensington Palace, this borough is located just west of Hyde Park and extends to Earls Court and Chelsea. If you have the money to spend, Kensington is the high priced fashionable shopping district of the London superior. The area is primarily residential and the homes are set back from the road with acres of exquisite lawns and fountains. The royal precedent set by the Palace lends itself to the structures and people of this old and regal neighborhood. It is worth the tour alone to view the multi million dollar homes in the district. Kensington's High Street and Church Street sport high cost cars and homes, and provide only a glimpse of how London's rich live and shop. A sharp contrast to the other end of the borough, where Earls Court is the destination for the backpacking traveler, with its cheap hotels and hostels. This is where you want to spend the evening after touring Kensington, as Earls Court has the best night clubs and taverns in Kensington. Cross Old Brompton Road to West Brampton and walk through Brampton cemetery, an old and quaint parl like burial grounds that makes for a quiet afternoon.
