It's easy to begin feeling overwhelmed by the ceaseless noise and hustle and bustle of the city if you're paying a visit to Skopje in Macedonia. If this is the case, you can take a break from all that by paying a visit to the Zena Borec Park. Zena Borec Park may be a little on the small side, but it is nonetheless a suitable little stop for someone needing to find an oasis of natural beauty in the middle of the crowded urban environment of Skopje. The pathways here are paved in granite tiles, and the site is fairly close to the City Hospital and the Green Market.
The park has some interesting history. In the 20th Century, the park was home to such major events as the UIASM hunger strike and other political protests. Today, however, the park mainly sticks to its primary purpose of being a relaxing getaway from a sometimes overwhelming environment. On afternoons and weekends, you're likely to find the city's youth here playing various sports, and in the morning, you might see the local dog lover community taking their pooches out for a morning walk.
