The Suli An or the Suli Inn was established in the 15th century to accommodate to travelers passing through this area of Macedonia. It was constructed with a large center square and eighteen pillars with arch ways. The bottom floor was originally used for cattle and the top floor had the actual rooms. Sometime during the 16th century the Suli An was converted into shops. After the earthquake in the 1960’s and after the restoration work to help regain the Suli An to its previous glory, the building once again changed purpose and is now home to exhibits regarding the formation of the Old Bazaar as well as a gallery of contemporary arts.

Ishak Bey commissioned the Suli An and it remained one of the most magnificent and important building in the 15th century. Its location in Skopje has helped the Suli An to retain its popularity. Although the Suli An has undergone many changes both in purpose and restoration, it remains an valuable monument in Macedonia.
