In Skopje, one of the little, lesser known, but nonetheless very fascinating stops, would be the Old Oriental Bazaar, a market like area which serves as Skopje's equivalent of the small Chinatown districts you'll find in most of the larger cities in England, Canada and the United States. Here you'll find various handcrafted items, both practical and novel, as well as local and foreign delicacies in the various food shops and teas and coffees available in the small cafes. Even if you don't feel like shopping, the Old Oriental Bazaar in Skopje provides a fascinating look at culture by highlighting the contrast between the culture of the Asian locals with the traditional Macedonian culture you'll find just outside this district.

Officially called Carshija, the Old Oriental Bazaar is one of the largest and most colorful districts of its type in Europe. On the outskirts of the district, you'll find the Kursumli Han, an inn which was once popular for traders during the Turkish period.
