Considered as the bird watcher’s paradise, Cape Rachado is known for its white washed tower that overlooks the vast body of water. As a stopover of different types of migratory brids, bird watchers could always be seen on top of the tower so that they’ll be able to see the birds as they come and go in Cape Rachado.
Aside from being a tower for bird watcher, the structure also has a historical significance becoming an important part of Melaka attractions. Built during the 16th century, its original purpose is to be a lighthouse for those passing ships in the straits of Malacca. Until today, it is being used as a light house but for tourists, it’s a perfect place to watch the birds which is one of the most popular activities in Melaka. For the locals, it is also the place where the great warrior Hang Tuah arrived. Be sure to come here from September to March as the birds are really abundant during these months.
