The Stadthuys Museum is one of the most visited Melaka attractions. The building was built in 1650 during the Dutch occupation which was eventually used by the Dutch. Until today, some of the parts of the original structure are preserved. Dutch Governors used to live here and the administration of Melaka was held in this place. Outside the building is a very unique clock tower which was built almost the same time as the museum.
Aside from the historical significance of Melaka, you’ll find all the important information about Melaka in this structure. The building is basically divided into five parts: the History and Ethnography Museum; Museum of Literature; Gallery of Admiral Cheng Ho; Governor’s Museum; and Government Democracy Museum. All these are found within the walls of the museum. You'll know the best sights of Melaka just by visiting this Museum. Bridal dresses, furniture from different countries, jewelries and artifacts are just some of the things tourists will see in this very extensive museum. Prepare a small fee for entrance.
