The University of Malaya was formally established in 1949. Like many other schools, the school wasn’t built overnight. The seeds of the current educational institution of Malaysia started in 1905 with the establishment of King Edward VII Medical School. It slowly developed into one of the key medical schools in the country. Part of the seed of the current university is the Raffles College. Established in 1929, the school majored in Social Studies and the Arts. Undoubtedly, it has grown in importance as it featured some of the country’s best educators. Merging two institutions in 1949, the University of Malaya become one of the country’s biggest universities.
