The collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts is located at the intersection of South Street and Scots Street in Valletta, Malta. It is on the Northeast corner of the town proper. The core of the pieces featured in the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta, Malta includes pieces by Maltese artists like 'Portrait of a Woman' by Giorgio Bonavia, Guiseppe Grech's 'Self Portrait', and a grouping done in plaster by Antonio Sciortino, all notable Maltese artists. Other artists featured include Tiepolo, Mattia Preti, Palma Giovane, Andrea Vaccaro, and Mathias Stomer, well in place by 1920.

These works of art are housed in the Admiralty house, which is actually one of the oldest buildings in Valletta, and considered to be a piece of architectural history. It was a knight's palazzo in the 1760s and in 1821 became the Admiralty House, home to the British naval commander in Chief who was in charge of the Mediterranean fleet.
