The Mexico City International Airport, also known as the Benito Juarez International, is the biggest, busiest and most important airport in the entire country of Mexico. Expected to handle at least thirty million passengers throughout 2008, visiting the airport at any given time of year will usually allow the traveler to witness the expansion and renovation process underway. The airport’s target size will be enough to allow as many as 45 million passengers per year. To put that into perspective, that is nearly 1/400 of the world’s entire population.

Nearly any major airport is going to be equipped with some shops and restaurants and maybe an ATM, but Benito Juarez International actually has a hotel right inside terminal 1 with another planned for construction. The expansion is happening at such a fast rate because of the high density population of the airport’s surrounding area. Along with expanding the airport itself, there are also plans to build a neighboring airport to keep the Benito Juarez International a bit less crowded.
