In the suburb of San Angel you’ll find this showcase presenting some of the finest craftsmanship in all of Mexico in the form of woodwork, jewelry and ceramics. A far cry from tacky souvenir shops selling cheap snowglobes and goofy, “See you in Mexico!” postcards, the items you’ll find here speak of deep, rich Mexican culture and serious, skillful artistry, and thus serve as a much better memento of your trip to Mexico than some corny, plastic, gift store novelty.
Some of the items here are said to be a bit pricy, but the work on display is more than worth it, and the buyer can take pride in supporting the local economy. The work is on display along the street in Plaza San Jacinto, throughout surrounding streets, and in Plaza del Carmen, which is nearby. Most of the artists and craftsman displaying their work here rely on the Bazar Sabado for most, or all, of their income, and their work shows nothing but pride and confidence.
