Hotels near Alameda Central Park in Mexico City - Best deals & budget rates!

Mexico City’s largest downtown park, Alameda Central is surrounded by a lot of the most intriguing buildings and museums in all of Mexico City. The park was created in the late 16th century by Viceroy Luis de Velasco to allow for families and people to congregate at a sort of social gathering site, for which it is still used today, especially on Sundays, after church, thanks to the nearby cathedrals and churches. The park actually took its name from the alamos (poplars) planted throughout the park.

The Alameda Central park is located just one kilometer west of the Zocalo, or center square, of Mexico City, and this is easily walking distance, so the location is nothing if not convenient, as the center square, which neighbors or contains just about every single spot in the city worth paying a visit to, should be the foundation of any trip through Mexico City, allowing easy access to most of the city.
