This man-made island was developed in 1970 as both a wildlife reserve and a vacationer’s paradise. It’s no surprise that it’s such an effectively relaxing and enjoyable locale, given that it was engineered to be just that. Equipped with two swimming beaches and a snorkeling beach. The swimming beaches are small enough for children to play safely in. The water is crystal clear and there are also pool lounges, bars and restaurants. At certain times, the waves at the snorkeling beach (which faces the Pacific ocean) can pick up, but for the most part, the ocean here is unusually calm and quiet.

There’s also a hiking trail, but the real draw of Isla Ixtapa is that you can sit around all day just plain doing nothing at all. It’s recommended that you visit the island around slower slower seasons, such as early June, as the tiny island does have a tendency to get a bit crowded.
