What you need to know before traveling to Nuevo Leon

Nuevo Leon is a state of Mexico which is located in the northeast of the country. The literal translation for this state’s name is ‘new lion Kingdom’. It has a very short border with the state of Texas, in the US. The Sierra Madre mountain range runs through Nuevo Leon. The state capital is Monterrey, which is the third largest city in Mexico. Guadalupe is another important city within the state. The majority of the state’s population lives in the north and in Monterrey itself. This is because the climate becomes hotter and drier the farther south. Nuevo Leon is able to offer its visitors some beautiful mountain scenery. Especially beautiful examples of natural beauty include the Canon de la Huasteca and the Cascadas Cola de Caballo Waterfall. Travelling in to the state capital, Monterrey, there are a lot of attractions. These include a number of museums. The Museo Metropolitano de Monterrey, the Museo de Historia Mexicana, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museo de Monterrey are some popular choices for you. Whilst in Monterrey, you should also check out the Bishop’s Palace and the Basilica de Muestra Senora del Roble for some excellent examples of the local architecture.
