Morocco is known for having several small, rural towns and villages with their own rustic charm. Each one of these little villages is worth a visit when you're in the area, especially considering how easily a short trip to one can be arranged on your trip from one of Morocco's major cities to the next. One of the coolest is Aghbalou, the largest village along the Oued Ourika route. This spot is one of the more developed of these small villages, since it has become such a popular stop for travelers.

Here you'll find an impressive brick mosque. In contrast to some of the flamboyantly decorated mosques in the country, this brick mosque bears the humble appearance of a small church. The impressive part of the mosque is simply the strength of the basic architecture, and the tall minaret. You'll also find a small cafe in Aghbalou sitting right alongside the river which runs through the town, where you can grab a cup of coffee or mint tea ( a favorite in Morocco) and watch the water flow.
