One of the more important and impressive museums you're likely to find in the beautiful city of Marakesh, the Dar Si Said Museum sits in a sumptuous palace and houses the very essence of Moroccan art traditions. On the first floor, you can observe an extensive collection of beautiful articles of traditional clothing as well as some excellent works of beaten copper and Berber jewelry, or you can take a look at the collection of firearms and other weapons, crafted by expert engineers and decorated with delicate motifs and colors.
Elsewhere in the museum, you'll find such as the huge collection of brilliant carpentry from around the country. The carpets from the Sahara region are especially fascinating, evoking the arid, dry atmosphere of the desert with a kind of dry sense of beauty. These carpets are unique in their use of leather, a strictly Saharan tradition in terms of carpet making. Another interesting exhibition on display collects window and door frames, which you'll find hanging around the courtyard, encrusted with fine ornamentation.
