Pros: This is the grand old lady of tangier. if you want chrome, glass and modern, this won't be for you at all - you will hate it. but if you want to step back into the grandeur of a bygone era, albeit somewhat faded, then you will love this place as we did. we stayed in room 208 which was much larger than most. the hotel has had the bathrooms very recently updated to modern standards and double-glazed windows fitted, which have fantastic views overlooking the port of tangier. free wifi, friendly service and inexpensive but lovely food in the restaurant...and the breakfast room has to be seen to be believed, straight out of 1001 arabian nights. situated just inside the medina, it can be a bit hard to find the first time although there are easy to follow signs in the alleyway. after that, it's simple. great location, walk to all the sights mentioned in the lonely planet. would not consider staying anywhere else - after all, it was good enough for the duke of edinburgh to stay there in the 1880s (the royal certificate is still at the reception desk).
