Being a country with a very large expanse of coastline, Mozambique holds quite a number of lighthouses, and one of these is the Inhaca Light. This 31-metre tower is being used until this very day, and it often draws in a lot of tourists from the several resorts of the island, thereby contributing to the success of Mozambique's tourism.

As the southernmost lighthouse among the major lighthouses in the country, Inhaca is said to house the oldest light station in Mozambique. This light house was erected in the year 1894 at the northern end of the Inhaca island. Similar to most lighthouses, its function is to give out light to guide the ships home to the major seaport of Maputo. As such, the lighthouse has a great importance not only to the city of Maputo, but to the entire country as well. And as a tourist attraction, it is considered a major contributor to Mozambique's tourism.
