The town of Oudkerk bears significant historical value because it’s role during the 80 years war. Now the town is known by their Frisian name Aldtsjerk. In a weekend, Oudkerk is visited by tourists because of its postcard like atmosphere. People also go to this place because of the Heemstra State, home of the town’s most famous family. Near the state and some of the Oudkerk cheap hotels is the 17th century church named after the new town, Aldtsjerk Church.
