"Great hotel"

Very good location and good and confortable room. Expresso coffee machine in the room is a plus. Extra kind and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.The minus is the lift - quite slow.

Cons: When we 1st got there the room was so dirty! the toilet had pee spots on it and the floor of the whole room was filthy our feet where turning black. the maid had an attitude. there was no free wifi in the hotel and no wifi at all in the rooms! to make up for the dirtiness of the room we were given free internet for the duration our stay but we had to sit in the lobby and use it. there was no mini bar. they told us that instead they have room service. call me cluless but i'm pretty sure a four star hotel would include room service even if they still had a minibar in the room and vice versa. there were no mugs for the coffee and when we called room service they never came. at the time of check in the staff did not warn us we had a to pay a city tax when checking out which we paid for already when we booked the hotel. we paid it anyway because we couldn't wait to leave and where done arguing with anyone. after checkout the little guy and the girl standing with him did not thank us for our business and sent us gladly on our merry way. overall it was a bad experience and i would not recommend it to anyone.

"1) good location and friendly reception staff"

Pros: 1) good location and friendly reception staff.
2) all rooms are non-smoking
Cons: 1) the first room we were in was a bit small, and only had an overhead shower with a very slow flow rate. it was like standing outside in drizzle.
2) the cleaners were very noisy and woke us up one morning, though they were a few yards down the corridor
3) no wifi, and wired internet seemed a bit expensive at €10.50 per night

Pros: Excellent staff, highly recommended. location was very good and close to flower market and easy walking distance to many attractions.
when we advised we were there for a 30th birthday the hotel supplied a small bottle of champagne which was a lovely touch.
Cons: Our room was quiet small for 3 people.

Pros: Loved the small hotel, european atmosphere and the accommodating and most helpful staff made this hotel a perfect choice.
Cons: The hotel was great but the area, while in the center of amsterdam and close to sights, was very noisy and i do not think the hotel had air conditioning so we could close the windows. your survey only allows one selection of who would like the hotel but i think it is perfect for all except those who want quiet.

Pros: Great location, room clean and well furnished, beds comfortable. had everything you need for a short stay. the window/door would not open but this was quickly sorted by the staff so we could let in some fresh air - otherwise it would have been too warm. was a great hotel and would definitely stay there again. staff very helpful.
Cons: There was a fair amount of noise due to room location at the front by the busy road but this was reduced once the doors were closed. would wish to have access to a bath if staying longer.

Pros: I managed to get this at a discount so it made it even cheaper. my colleague stayed at this hotel before me so i knew to ask for a room at the top of the hotel at the back, therefore we didn't have any noise as mentioned in previous reviews. it was winter so heating wasn't a problem but i can see it getting too warm in the winter.
Cons: There was a really nice free standing lamp in the room with nowhere to plug it into. we had to ask for an extension cable and we got a 5 metre workmen's cable - not the best solution. maybe put in some more sockets or look at better placement of lights!!
