We first stayed at this hotel nearly thirty years ago when it was smaller than now. we have been to amsterdam several times since but this time we decided to revisit the ambassade for 'sentimental' reasons. the hotel fully met our expectations. the rooms are elegant and comfortable. ours overlooked the canal and the access road but was quiet and undisturbed by external noise. staff were friendly and exceedingly helpful. they were happy to keep our luggage after check-out until we left for the airport. the hotel does not provide dinner, although there is a full menu on room service (at extra cost). the breakfast room is very attractive, with ample space and the breakfast itself was extremely good. each table is served with a basket of breads and croissants and a plate of cheeses and cold cuts. a buffet provides cereals, fruit, pastries and champagne for self selection and you can order eggs and bacon etc prepared for each order and very well timed. breakfast is served until 11.00 so is as leisurely as you wish. the hotel is exceptionally well located for easy access to the 'nine streets' with their individual shops and a tram stop is within easy walking distance even with a suitcase (wheeled is best if at all heavy)and a 10 minute ride takes you to the centraal station (2.60 euros compared with 15 for the short taxi ride). we shall certainly not leave it another 30 years before we return! note re recommendations below: because of external steps and steep narrow stairs disabled guests would find the hotel difficult to negotiate

very good hotel, nothing was to much trouble for the staff, good location, on aquiet street but close to most sites, good views of the canal
would have liked to have seen tea and coffee facilities in the room instead of having to order as an extra

This was the first time that my wife and i traveled to amstrerdam. the experience was only made better in staying at the ambassade. it is right on the canal and at night you can hear the swans like loons on a lake! the room was perfectly annointed with all htat you would expect from this class of hotel, only i wish they had a small fridge. the bathroom was extremely clean, the ceilings were high, the deluxe rooms are quite large enough and if you are on the canal side you'll have a wall of windows overlooking that you can open to let in the frsh air or listen to those traveling by, part of the whole experience! i will be traveling to amsterdam again next year and will most definitely be staying again at the ambassade!

The hotel was very nicely presented and decorated. the room was nice and clean- there were just some marks on the wall that could have been cleaned off. the beds were extremely crisp and comfortable to sleep in- heavenly! and the hotel has a fantastic location with very helpful staff. one of the best hotels i've stayed in.
It would be good if there was a smaller breakfast option for those who don't want to pay 16 euros for a feast.
