Guided tours to heighten the pleasure and the experience are recommended.
The most likely location you will be put is Location 1: Gerard Doustraat/Ruijsdaelkade. (There is also a change you will be located in one of the other locations but this will be indicated on the e-mail that you will receive after booking):
The house at Gerard Doustraat was built in 1886, has a nice façade and has 5 levels with 8 rooms (surface 10 to 25m²/120 to 290 square feet). It is next to the "Boerenwetering", one of the canals leading to Rijksmuseum and the old centre. There is no elevator. The Gerard Doustraat and Ruijsdaelkade are low traffic streets and public transport stops are around the corner.
“Alexander's” location 1, Gerard Doustraat/ Ruijsdaelkade is situated in the old southern part of the centre of Amsterdam called “Oud-Zuid/de Pijp”, the vivid “Quartier Latin” of Amsterdam. The apartments are located very centrally between the old centre, the western, the eastern and new southern part of the city. De Pijp has a nice laid-back atmosphere. Here you can experience Dutch daily life with a multicultural accent. Furthermore, there is a great variety of restaurants and pubs in the nearby vicinity.
The important sights of Amsterdam are located within a 5-minute walk: the Museum Square, the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Concert Hall, Heineken Brewery Museum and the old centre with it's characteristic canals only take a five minute walk from Alexander's. By bicycle you can make a trip along the river Amstel to the village of Ouderkerk in less than an hour or follow the dike north to the village of Durgerdam on the lake IJsselmeer.
