Arrived early at 10am and was given a room, staff very courteous & professional & helpful
The room & toilet look 'new' but somehow the fixed shower tap was quite old & it's difficult to control the shower spray. would be better to have shower tap which is flexi with adjustable shower head

I have stayed at the avenue hotel a number of times in the past three years - approx ten times. the location is two blocks - short & quick - from the train station and no cab expense from airport or cabbie playing meter games on your money. the housekeeping standard is excellent and they inspect each room between guests to make sure the housekeeping is up to their standard. location could not be more ideal for visiting amsterdam - blocks to the anne frank house and the jordaan neighborhood's shope, boutiques, restaurants, bars & coffeehouses. redlight district the other direction two blocks and there's lanudry service on both sides of the same block (8 euros for a load washed and folded), grocery stores, an internet cafe on the same stide of the same block that also has very cheap internation al calls from their phone booths - forget the cell plans for europe and all that - this works fine. hotel staff positive and friendly and yet completely professional and respectful of hotel guests. rooms are small, especially single rooms though and the baths quite small. there can be stairs, depending on which floor requires which elevator and, typical of netherlands and europe, handicap facilities are tough. breakfast salon has a pretty good included continental stype breakfast in cluded with room and more than adequate and saves money out ! can't say enough about this hotel and that's why i go there and stay there several times a year and plan to continue there. very safe area for single travellers, including women alone. fantastic location and experience each time.
Tram noise on the front can be too much for some people but it stops running at 12:30 am til around 6 am.

Location.
Room was to hot & stuffy if windows where open it was noisy from kitchen from 6 am .. not good! & generators where constantly making a racket 24/7. room was not ready at 2pm as stated & had to wait over an hour for house keeping to get it ready. no tea coffee facilities in room. view of a brick wall & windows from room, overall a bit rubbish, we have stayed here many times & this was the worse stay ever, would think hard before staying here again.
