When checking in only one room was reserved in the booking system although i had a confirmation of 2 rooms booked on the internet. the staff fixed it with no inconvenience for me. when asking for a spoon in the breakfast area in the morning i knocked on the door to the kitchen - the receptionist came and helped me - but also stated that i was not allowed (ever) to go into the kitchen. big surprise on my face! when ordering a taxi at 7.45 for going to albert h office at 8.10 i got a the message at 8.05 that first available taxi was at 8.30. could have been better organised. now a collegue had to pick me up.Anonymous

I booked a "standard room" and got a confirmation for this type of room. the lady at the reception desk informed me that for a system error only a "deluxe room" was available.Anonymous

The breakfast was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and very helpful with giving us information on places to go and how to get there. they provided train and bus times and helped us plan how we would get in and out of the centre on new years eve - there is also a free internet service which was handy! The hotel was advertised as amsterdam when in fact its in zaandam (on a main road with just a shell garage near you, it didn't even look like amsterdam)- a 20 min bus ride to the centre of amsterdam! the buses stop at 12midnight to take you back to the hotel - not very good for new years eve! we had to pay 60euros to get back! the hotel doesn't provide double beds when we requested a double room and we were woken up early every morning by the cleaners! our stay was alright and we made the most of it but i would not stay at this hotel again just because of the location and waht we paid we could of stayed closer for the money! The staff are very polite, speak excellent english and very helpful. although we arrived early at the hotel the room was still ready for us to check-in. the hotel is conveniently situated for those not wishing to stay in the heart of amsterdam, there is a bus stop just across the road and the number 91 bus takes you straight to central stationin approximately 15 minutes. the buses and trains are all very clean,reasonably priced and arrive/depart on time. there is a supermarket just down the road where you can buy water/ snacks etc. i would definately recommend this hotel to couples/mature travellers.brouns
