 "Good value for money"
Friendly staff and a cute lovely dog to welcome you. The rooms were not perfect but good enough for the price. Excellent location just minutes away from Dam square and city centre. If you are going to Amsterdam to enjoy the city and need place to stay this is it. It is not luxury but just good enough

 "horrible week end"
we had a quad room with two double bed , sheets were stained and smell tobacco, no heating in the room (when its -5°c outside) , only one towel for 4 persons which was also stained ,on a wall there is poo ...... absolutely horrible so i give you an advice, even if this hotel is cheap , never go in it .

 "Cold in Winter."
Old building and very noise when walking on the stairts. Room quite cold because heater not working properly. Shared shower small and not nice, it's very hard to control the water temperature. Only 10minutes by foot to Main Train Station .

 "just awful"
All i can say is steer clear, smells like an old ppls home, dirty, stained carpets, graffti, chipped paint/wallpaper, badly in need of a revamp to even look half decent. when we arrived the prospect of 4 nights here, literally i was in tears! as for the sleep quality we didnt stay long enough to find out 1 look at the room and we went and booked in another hotel

 "AVOID AT ALL COSTS"
Went for my boyfriends birthday with my nephew also & booked this hotel without reading other reviews...bad mistake! Our room was on a slope, the sink was hanging off the wall & leaked, the toilet leaked so all you smelt was sewage. Cracks and cobwebbs in all walls. Bedding never changed in 4 days, no new toilet roll, my nephew brought us some from a bag lying outside his room, old condom wrapper left in unit & we were not warned that the church at the back of the hotel rang its bells every 15 mins 24 hours a day. Good point was that they let you smoke in the room & the reception staff were nice. Paid for the breakfast but never had it as was put off but the state of the place. Great location though!

 "Average at best"
So the price is great cheapest tou will find and the staff are friendly and the rooms are as you expect for this, pretty grotty needs a lick of paint. The thing that ruined it for me was mice! You heard them every night and actually spotted two running across the room! Wouldn't stay there again.

 "Weed for free"
it is aloud to smoke everywhere in the hotel. even if you are not smoking, when you are in the room smoke come from the all the halls in the room and you can "enjoy" your smoking without you wanting. in general, i didn't know that such "hotels" exists and somebody could charge money for that. If i knew hotel is like this I wouldnt stay there for free! this "hotel" reminds me one movie "Hostel". Enjoy future visitors and good luck :)

 "Don't bother"
I booked online with Easybook. A double room with breakfast was confirmed price of 458 euros for 4 nights. The room and facilities were nothing remotely resembling what I had paid for and expected. When we arrived I was handed a credit card recipt for 504 euros, staff said this was the charge. When shown to our room we had to go through the kitchen ( which did not look too clever !!), the room was less than 9 sq meters ( paid and booked a room of 16 sq meters), the floor looked like it had never seen a hoover, the bed had collapsed underneath, bedding was two single duvets on a double bed, the tv was an old tube type sat on a wonky table at an angle with no remote, to turn it on you had to plug it into a wall socket ,which had come away from the wall and only bbc 1+2 were in English. The "en suite" was a totally unvented room with no windows, the toilet was not attached to the floor and wobbled around when you sat on it, the door could not be closed when on it either because it was so close. The sink was cracked and there was mold and peeling paint all over the ceiling and inside the door. Obviously it had not been cleaned properly for months. The only light in the room was a 40 watt bulb, unshaded, dangling on a foot or so of wire out of a 4" hole in the ceiling, there were no bedside lights. The furniture consisted of two childrens stools, a painted "bureux " with a door held up with a shoelace, and two tiny drawers in the bottom, ( it had some rubbish in it as well). We were unable to get another room, "hotel" was fully booked and when we went to a tourist information center we were told that the only rooms available were a half hour bus ride away from the city center, it turned out there was a buisness conference on and all hotel space was fully booked. Subsequently we had no choice but to stay at the Belga. On the Friday we got back at about 10pm, the guy who let us in said he was having a party and as his accomodation was right next door to our room there would be some noise but he would turn it down at about 11.30pm. And noise was what we got, so loud the tv would not turn up enough to hear it.There is more... but this gives enough info to make a decision.

 "Good value"
The stay at this hotel was pleasant. It is basic, but the room was clean on arrival and the staff were friendly. This is not a high standard hotel, but i have no complaints. It was good value and took only 5 mins to get to the town centre. I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a cheap break in Amsterdam.

 "Squinty room but central location"
Fantastic location a minute away from Dam Square. Basic hotel useful if you dont plan to spend much time in the hotel. We had the top floor room which was so squinty that you could get disorientated. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Some of the TV stations are in English. Watch out for the church bells, they ring loudly all night.
