The hotel is a simple and basic hotel in Amsterdam, right between Amsterdam Central Station and Dam square. Because our hotel is centrally located, it offers a perfect place to explore the canals, museums, shops and nightlife areas of Amsterdam. All is within walking distance.
How to reach the Ben Hotel?From the airport: You can either take a taxi (approx. 20 minutes) or a train (approx. 15 minutes) to Amsterdam Central Station ('Amsterdam CS').
From the Central Station of Amsterdam: It's a 5 minutes walk to the hotel:
- Take the main exit and go straight out in the direction of Dam Square onto the Damrak;
- Follow this main street (Damrak) which you can recognize from the canal boats on your left and the Victoria hotel on your right-hand side;
- At the end of the canal (when you see the Grasshopper building on your left) turn left into de 'Oude Brugsteeg';
- Next street (at the entrance of the Grasshopper) turn right into the 'Beursstraat'.

Brilliant location right in the heart of amsterdam, basic but ideal if just wanting a place to sleep
No heating in the room & very cold, had radiator cover but no radiator behind it!!Anonymous

Room ready on arrival though we were early, very basic but generally clean (apart from carpet which is not a big issue-it is a 1 star hotel after all).Room smells of smoke. cats in the hotel, but no mice or rats!
ok stairs are steep but so is every stairs in amsterdam.Reardon

Hotel ben is an excellent hotel to stay in if all you want is a bed at night. the location is within walking distance of everything! slap bang in the middle of the best coffee-shops and restaraunts. hotel ben is great for couples and groups of friends. the parrot in reception even greets you on your arrival. i recommend hotel ben to everyone that wishes to vist the dam. it's that good i will definatly be staying there again for the 4th time running! The only bad thing about hotel is the stairs!
this hotel is no good for people in wheel chairs or buggies.
i feel sorry for the ones staying on the 3rd floor or above.
the stairs are very steep and after a few trips to the coffee-shops, i recomend leaving it a while before you hike up them. they are definatly not built for people that smoke! Cave

The staff was amazing, especially guy who works night shift, he was friendly and gave a lot of advise on what to see.We asked for a double bed and got two single beds. i think the price was high for the quality of the hotel.Anonymous

The staff are very friendly and will chat to you and are very helpful. my room was bigger than i expected with a clean loo and shower. central of town close to everything.Some people may not like the noise at night from the bars nearby but for a single traveler it should be okOrtlepp

Good for a night's kip when you're visiting for amsterdam's "green culture" - also had smoking rooms.The bin wasnt emptied - well it kinda was, the bag was taken out of the bin and put on the floor - lots of flies too.Swede

Close to central station and dam square located just on the egde of the red light areaAdded costs that where not stated when booking like deposit's for key to the room and remote for the t.v. the towel that was in the room was not replaced for 2 days. no hand wash in the bathroom. very small mirror in bathroom no others in room.Harrison
