Lovely views from our room and very clean. good breakfast.
The room was small, but that was expected from the way it was advertised. steep stairs- common in most buildings in amsterdam.

Very clean and tidy, great view across the canals with our own balcony. easy access 24hrs a day, staff were very friendly.
Even with the special price on the website, the room was still rather pricey.

Hotel was in a great location, far enough away from the centre to be quiet but near enough for ease of travelling about and right on the canal. staff were friendly and helpful. hotel very clean and nicely decorated.
Double room was quite small but hotel is a converted dutch house so expected, also stairs are very steep but again as this is a converted house this is to be expected but not suitable for the less able.

I really liked this hotel and so did my family. my wife and i stayed in 103 and my 2 kids (13 and 15) in 102. we all loved the location near the canal and the little square a few minutes away. turn left out of the hotel and in minutes you find a boat station, pedal boat rentals and trams. the rijksmuseum and the van gogh museum in easy walking distance. everything in easy walking distance. the rooms are sparsely modern in an older building, recently refurbished. very striking and a good design success, particularly when juxtaposed with the view of the trees and canal through large old fashioned windows that completely open. the staff were friendly and helpful - especially udo, the night manager. the continental breakfast was very good and quite generous in the choices offered. we found this hotel on the net a few days before making a side trip from paris to holland. the availability of the rooms on such short notice was a concern before we arrived, in case it turned out to be a poor choice. however, our concerns were immediately put to rest on arrival. in fact, we liked it so much that we immediately booked a second night. i would recommend this hotel as charming, reasonably affordable and a pleasure in which to stay. we shall return. i would recomend the hotel to honeymooners, couples and business travellers. the steep dutch staircase is too much for mature travellers to manage and i expect the rates are bit too high for most younger travellers. overall, i'd give this hotel a 4 out of 5 rating. kdc. british columbia, canada
1. the lip on the floor between the room and the bathroom should be painted a different color than the foor, to prevent stubbed toes. 2. speaking for the noth american audience, i think i can safely say that we prefer a single king sized mattress rather than two singles, no matter how closely placed.

Clean room, friendly staff, breakfast was good
We had a problem with mosquitoes as we had to open the windows at night because it got a little hot and stuffy. i suggest maybe putting a screen at the window so if someone does open the window for some cool air, no insects fly in. putting a fan in the room would help too. walls are a bit thin too so expect to hear some noise.

Great location, perfectly clean and nice staff.
Price, we got a nice discount through easytobook.com but the normal price for the tiny room we got was totally too much for the room. also note, as most places in amsterdam, be prepared to carry your bags up the very steep and narrow stairs.

The location of this hotel is fantastic - we walked everywhere. even though it's close to everything, the hotel is on a quiet street which is a huge plus. we had a deluxe double room (suite) on the 2nd floor with a beautiful view of the canal. the best way to get to the hotel from schipol airport is by taking bus 197 just outside the airport to leidsplein. it costs 3 euros per person and the ride took 20 minutes (the bus runs every 15 mins). the hotel is a 2 minutes' walk from the bus stop at leidsplein. the breakfast buffet is an excellent selection of juices, yogurt, fruits, croissants, eggs, sausages and bacon. there is free wifi (in the room) and 2 computers for public use. we needed to make several international calls and the hotel phone rates were so reasonable (did not have surcharges). the staff was very helpful. we will stay here again in the future.
There is no elevator. so be mindful of this especially if you travel with big heavy luggages. the bathrooms are minimal and serviceable, but they are new and clean.

The staff were very considerate. when i arrived at the hotel at 8.30 in the morning i had just arrived from australia - a trip of 24 hours. they gave me early access to the room which was completely unexpected. it allowed me to quickly settle in, get over my jetlag and start enjoying amsterdam.
No there were no negative experiences. stair case as often happens in holland was steep and narrow so staff helped me with my heavy bags.
