 "Wonderful stay"
Chic&Basic was a great stay. The staff was super helpful, the room cute and clean. If you have large baggage, be wary of the steep staircase.100% recommend this spot to anyone wanting to visit Amsterdam

 "Location, location, location"
We had a fab stay in Amsterdam. The hotel is in a great location on a beautiful canal, close to central station and close to some great bars and restaurants. The hotel itself offers cheaper excursions such as canal tours (LOVERS tours) which was good and just lasted the correct amount of time (1.25 hours). The breakfast was basic - coffee, toast, jam etc, all of which you make yourself , but that suited us. The rooms were on the small side but absolutely more than adequate if you are planning to sight see and spend most of your time out and about. I would stay here again and recommend it for the reasons stated.

"Chic and basic amsterdam was in a very central location to everything and..."
Pros: Chic and basic amsterdam was in a very central location to everything and the rooms where very clean although did need a lick of paint as it was walls were marked, alot.

i did think it was very expensive for what you pay for, its nothing special and the continenal breakfast is just toast with a selction of butter and jam with tea and cofffee!! disappointed!!

"Staff were very friendly and helpful, the communal areas of the hotel were..."
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful, the communal areas of the hotel were lovely. the location of this hotel was perfect, easy walking distance from the train station, right next to a beautiful part of the canal and right in the heart of things at night time. room was well equipped with a tv, hairdryer, and a great power shower. bed and pillows were comfy.
Cons: Room was a little bit of a let down, it was noisy, from outside and the rooms above. the room looked a little bit worn, needs a lick of white paint to remove all the scuff marks.

"The hotel was in a good quiet location near to restraunts and bars"
Pros: The hotel was in a good quiet location near to restraunts and bars
Cons: The room was that small it should be classed as a cupboard. they said the room was en-suite but it was just a cupboard with a shower and a wash hand basin in the corner of it and a communal toilet down the corridor.
i have a bad heart and the room was on the top of 3 flights of steep stairs and when i told the girl on the reception this matter and asked someone to help me with my suitcase i was told i had to take them myself. i asked if i could possibly change to a room on a lower floor and the girl said no.
it was classed as bed and breakfast, but the breakfast was just a piece of toast and a cup of coffee.

"Very friendly staff and excellent location"
Pros: Very friendly staff and excellent location. also, room(s) were spotlessly clean.
Cons: We were given a very small room for our first night and then 'upgraded' for our second night. we think that we were not given the correct room to start with, so this was not really and 'upgrade'

"As stated above the location was great, walking distance from what we were..."
Pros: As stated above the location was great, walking distance from what we were interested in. friendly staff and clean room. coffee and toasts in the morning included and good fountain water.
Cons: Our room was very small, the bathroom door didn't open fully, it rested against the foot of the bed, the bathroom was equally small. we came back at the hotel on the 9th of may, i mentionned that fact and we were given a much larger room, which made all the difference.

"Friendly, helpful staff & a great location about 5 minutes walk from..."
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff & a great location about 5 minutes walk from central station. the rooms are perhaps a little small & the stairs are steep (as you would expect in this part of amsterdam) but everything was to a good standard. i would happily stay there again.
Cons: The curtains did not keep the light out, not great after a night on the town...
