Chic & Basic Amsterdam  

Pros: Chic and basic amsterdam was in a very central location to everything and the rooms where very clean although did need a lick of paint as it was walls were marked, alot.

i did think it was very expensive for what you pay for, its nothing special and the continenal breakfast is just toast with a selction of butter and jam with tea and cofffee!! disappointed!!

Pros: The hotel is in a perfect location alongside a beautiful canal and close to all the central amenities and buzz of the city centre. the staff were exceptional, helpful and always greeted us with a smile. the room was saptious and had a really modern yet comfortable feel to it. overall we had a wonderful experience in the heart of amsterdam in this lovely hotel. we will be back!!

Pros: Great location and overall a great stay. no issues with the hotel was spot on.

Pros: Fantastic canal view, great location, reasonable price.
Cons: Stairway is very steep - no lift.

Pros: We had stayed at this hotel on two previous occassions and the service had been excellent.
Cons: More basic than chic i'm afraid - having stayed there before we were really disappointed this time. we did not have the usual room - the one we had this time was cramped and noisy. for some reason breakfast was no longer provided which made it an expensive stay compared with other hotels on this trip.

Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful, the communal areas of the hotel were lovely. the location of this hotel was perfect, easy walking distance from the train station, right next to a beautiful part of the canal and right in the heart of things at night time. room was well equipped with a tv, hairdryer, and a great power shower. bed and pillows were comfy.
Cons: Room was a little bit of a let down, it was noisy, from outside and the rooms above. the room looked a little bit worn, needs a lick of white paint to remove all the scuff marks.

Pros: I send some customers of mine and they said it is to expensive for what they got. clean but small rooms and breakfast is not good

Pros: The hotel was in a good quiet location near to restraunts and bars
Cons: The room was that small it should be classed as a cupboard. they said the room was en-suite but it was just a cupboard with a shower and a wash hand basin in the corner of it and a communal toilet down the corridor.
i have a bad heart and the room was on the top of 3 flights of steep stairs and when i told the girl on the reception this matter and asked someone to help me with my suitcase i was told i had to take them myself. i asked if i could possibly change to a room on a lower floor and the girl said no.
it was classed as bed and breakfast, but the breakfast was just a piece of toast and a cup of coffee.

Pros: The staff couldnt do enough, so friendly and helpfull. really enjoyed our stay and we were very near to all the main attractions.

Pros: Very friendly staff and excellent location. also, room(s) were spotlessly clean.
Cons: We were given a very small room for our first night and then 'upgraded' for our second night. we think that we were not given the correct room to start with, so this was not really and 'upgrade'

Pros: Good location, central to most places i wanted to see.
Cons: Breakfast was not available as it was reported to be.

Pros: The room booked was a medium room and so one up from the basic vintage room. it was, at 130 euros, very poor value.
the room was depressing, dingy and tired. the "en suite" consisted of a tiny room in which there was a toilet. there was a pipe in the room attached to which was a shower head. the sink was in the bedroom as there was no room in the "toilet room". despite what the website says, there was no safe, no desk, the led light display consisted of a flourescent tube behind a picture. i was not really interested in having a desk or fancy lights, but thought that these features meant i was getting a better room. the breakfast consisted of white sliced bread or brown bread and machine produced coffee and that was it, oh, there was butter and jam for the toast. i do not think that this is a breakfast within the ordinary meaning of the word. the second vintage room was cheaper, but had a broken safe, no window, just a dome shaped skylight that you could not open as it was sealed. again, it was tired and depressing. the location of the hotel was good and there was free internet.

Cons: Steep stairs. no shelf in shower for soap and shampoo

Pros: The hotel was in perfect location. just 2 min walk to all the action but still in a quiet location. room was basic but thats all we needed. nice modern hotel. free internet n toast breakfast. would defo recommend it.
Cons: The only thing i could say negative was our window was in a lane and had no view but that wasnt a problem as we werent in room alot.
