 "city hotel amsterdam"
Very central position, low tidiness but globally good. In the sqare of this hotel there are serveral good pubs, restaurants, coffee shop. The location is great and the service was good with a very kind staff. This structure is basically for young people not for family with children

 "Perfect Location and Lovely Accomodations!"
This place went way beyond our expectations or a hostel. We were a group of 5 and booked a 6 person room. We did have quite a hike to our room at the very top, but it was not a big deal, really. Beautiful view from our room, comfortable beds, huge shower and paper towel machine in the toilet. It was a cute little circle room with views over Amsterdam and was very clean. The breakfast was great and they had a lot to choose from, breakfast sandwiches, hard or soft boiled eggs, meats and cheeses, fruit, yogurt, etc., so it is easy to find something you like. Also, there is 24 hour reception and they take safety and security very seriously, so no one will be getting your key/ into your room when you are away. Also a safe in the room and working wifi even at they way top. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great hotel right in the heart of the city. I will definately be booking City Hotel Hostel again if I find myself back in Amsterdam, as well!

 "Central, but Noisey location"
The hotel was friendly with OK service. We tried a continental breakfast which consisted of, three different types of bread (unable to toast), ham, cheese and salami. Their was supposed to be eggs available, however none on that day. We paid around 7.95 Euro's each for this and we felt that for a continental breakfast it was poor in quantity and selection, where we're the selection of pastries, eggs. The hotel is located just off Rembrandt square, which is full of bars, pubs and restaurants with great transport links to and from the area. This would be an ideal location if you planned to get drunk and go clubbing. The amenities in the area stay open late and we would often hear party goers until 05:30am with trams going past ringing their bells at all hours of the night. This hotel is more suited to a younger crowd or someone who has bought ear plugs.

If you want a clean, functional and great value for money, choose the City Hotel on Utrechtsestraat. Right at Rembrandtplain, can't be beat. Two cute little dogs will greet you and the owner is a gem!

 "Great Hotel"
The hotel was perfect for us (4 boys on a weekend away) the room was big and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and all spoke very good english. The location is very good, with bars and pubs less then a minutes walk away. Overall it is a very nice hotel and good value for money.

I recently stayed here with my girlfriend. The double room was very clean and it included a private bathroom, where showers were always nice and warm with fresh towels provided daily. The staff are very friendly and were always willing to help and provide any information that we required. It is a very safe and secure place. It is located above a pub, 'old bell' which is very handy to pop in and have a drink. Also it is next door to 2 coffeeshops ( if that is something that would interest you, they are both really nice) Tram stop is directly outside the hotel and the supermarket is a short 5min walk.I will be visiting the Dam again next year (my 4th trip) and I will be booking this place to stay.A******** Mack, Ireland

"Manager should be sacked and everything would be sweet"
On arrival, scaffolding covered the hotel so we were 'upgraded' to a big apartment next door; very good. The room was clean and large with a couple of rooms which was nice. There were 2 safes in the room, neither worked. This was a necessity for us as we had very expensive electrical equipment with us that we did not want to carry around all day with us everywhere we went, or leave in a room with no CCTV and minimal security. On speaking with the 'manager' in reception, he was very unhelpful. He made me feel like it was MY problem that they had 'lost' the key to the safe and could therefore not open or unlock it for us to use. Begrudgingly, the guy finally offered us the room upstairs. The other option was to "leave our stuff at reception where we could gain access to it between the hours of 9am and 6pm only". Strange! The hot water in the new room cut out and showed a fault on the thermostat which the manager could not fix himself and wasn't too bothered about so we had to wait for a handyman to arrive at 9am the next day. The experience was over-all very good and the hotel is not bad at all. However in a customer service industry with a lot of competition, you cannot afford to compromise on customer-service, especially when your the manager!
