"Enjoyable Stay"

I stayed in this hotel with a friend for 3 nights over Queen's Day. We are both very familiar with Amsterdam having visited many times and aware of the high price of accomodation. On arrival the first thing that you see is a steep flight of stairs to the First Floor - not for the disabled or infirm! Our room was on the Fourth Floor so there were two further flights of stairs - daunting but you get used to it. Remember to take all you need with you when departing. Our twin room was very very small. We both had hand luggage but I don't know where you would put a large suitcase if you had managed to get it up the stairs.Bathroom was small but functional.Breakfast was adequate and it was possible to watch the news when dining..The staff were very friendly and helpful and most important bedroom, sheets etc were clean and beds comfortable.We had much more spacious accomodation in Lisbon for less than half the price in March but then this is Amsterdam and this hotel is central about 10 mins from Dam Square and 5 mins from Ann Frank's Museum.

"Very good location"

Frendly staff, nice breakfast, very good location.The beadroom window let in the street noise, but we were so tyred at night that this was not a big problem. access stairs too steep could be a problem if you travel with big trunk...

"good for 1 night"

We stayed only for 1 night and it is ok for such a short stay. Good location,but very high and narrow stairs and very bad beds. Tiny rooms but it didn't bothered us. If you want to sleed well,this hotel is not good.

"Good enough!"

For the money i payed it was a good hotel! Located like 10 min walking from the Red light district! Breakfast was alright ( again, it was included in the hotel price so you can't actually ask for more). Good enough over all!

"couldnt ask for more"

I honestly couldnt fault this hotel in ANY way. It was just perfect for our needs. Its literally 20 seconds walk from dam square and found other hotels further away to be double the price. i have been before and will DEFINITELY be going back. I can see many people commenting on the fact that it may not be the most modernly decorated hotel ever but this is very much reflected in the price. Dont get me wrong its not a dive (i have a very picky girlfriend and the fact that she has gone back twice i think says a lot) but if your willing to overlook this fact i would highly recommend it.

"Excellent value for money"

Room was small, a bit shabby but the bed and the bathroom were very clean. I received clean towels every day. The personnel was extremely friendly and helpful. The position of the hotel is excellent. And as far as the price is concerned: You can't stay anywhere in the center for that price. Value for money excellent.

"Fab Break"

Staff go the extra mile to ensure your stay is most enjoyable. Intake of breath when I looked at the stairs to climb on entry - beware if you are not superfit, you will be by the end of your stay.First room was on the small side, but did have a balcony. Had to be moved due to water leakage from floor above, for safety reasons. Given an upgarded room and kettle, which is what we paid for initially, more space and nice and cosy. Fresh towels daily. Breakfast, continental and you can eat as much as you want to fill you up to lunch time. Had a fab time and seen more of Amsterdam this time. Would recommend this Hotel ,views were superb, lit canal banks in the evening and the snow made it look extra special. Everything on the doorstep basically, and easy to find even when you get lost.

"Hotel needs to be refreshed-reconstructed"

Our room was too small, old and not fresh. Be aware - there is no elevator and the stairs are difficult to climb especially if you have luggage or you come back after a long late party, we thought it could be even dangerous. Avoid this hotel if you come with kids. Breakfast was poor, breakfast room too tiny. But instead of all these negative impressions we liked our stay. So price-quality combination is ok, student level.

"Basic but nice."

Great location!. Simple room, but clean and nice. When we got to the room, our window was wide open. It was 20 degrees F. Staff fixed the window and brought us a space heater. All was well in seconds. Great steaming shower. We'd stay there again.

"Don't Bother"

The only great thing about htis hotel, is it's location. Stone throw from Anne Frank and 15min walk from Dam central and red light district.The rooms were tiny, even with double bed deluxe. Could only get out of bed on one side.Breakfast was terrible, choice of bread, cheese, cornflakes, crunchy cereal, yoghurt, boiled eggs, tea, coffee, lemon cake. That was it. No meats, croissants,.There was a toastie machine. In reality they should not have bothered.Its right next to a main road, trams going past from very early to cery late.Church close by and bells chiming every hour.Sirens.No double glazing, so very noisy at all hours.Hotel was reasonably priced we thought before travel, but after staying there poor value for money.

"Not enough room to swing a cat"

Staff-Rude. Rooms-Very very very small (even though we had paid for a delux room with balcony). Breakfast-Poor. Facilities-None. No tea coffee making facilities, £2.50 for one of the staff to make you one if its not during breafast, t.v. signal was rubbish.Noise from other rooms-Loud.We did not spend that much time in the room. Good job as you would not have the space to swing a cat....even though it stunk of them....that and a musty, curry sort of smell.

"Review of Hotel Di-Ann"

We were looking for a budget hotel as we didn't intend to spend a lot of time there, so we literally only needed a bed for the night. The staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating. The hotel offers additional matresses upon request and the option of late checkout, which proved to be very useful, as we had booked a triple room but ended up taking an extra person along. We were only given a cushion and a couple of sheets with the extra matress rather than a duvet and pillow, however the heating was on all night so the room was warm and cosy. I wasn't too impressed with the cleanliness of the room. I would have expected the carpet to have been vacumed and the TV to work. The cleaning staff didn't bother to knock the following morning, but simply let themselves in whilst we were all sleeping! They apologised and swiftly left as soon as they realised though. Nonetheless I did find this quite intrusive. Breakfast was basic but good, the dining room is nicely furnished with balconies overlooking the canal, where you can smoke. The location was perfect, just a short walk to Dam Sq. Overall, considering the price we paid, our stay at Hotel Di-Ann was pleasant and very good value for money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, who similar to us, is only spending a weekend in Amsterdam.

"mixed kettle of fish"

The hotel was basic but clean; the shower was sufficient and also clean. The breakfast was poor. There was a very small selection, not exactly a proper continental breakfast. There was no meat at all and the only eggs were hard boiled and sometimes cold. The service was friendly and the staff were attentive to your needs. However, it was definitely overpriced.

"Ok hotel to not spend much time in"

I recently visited this hotel for the night with my boyfriend in November 2012, the hotel was easy enough to find from the train station with the help of the map on my iphone, be prepared for the steep staircases as there is no lift if you can't really manage stairs then definitely don't stay in this hotel, the rooms were basic but we didn't spend much time in the room so it didn't really matter, the massive complaint that we had was on the Sunday morning I wanted a shower at about 9.30 and no water was coming out of the shower at all, after a while a small amount of water came up but it was freezing so i gave up, about an hour later the shower started working again, not sure if it didn't work because loads of people were showering at the same time, but still after the amount I paid for the hotel I would of expected to atleast be able to have a shower. Overall, it was an ok hotel for the night but probably wouldn't stay any longer than that.

"Quality establishment!"

This lovely hotel was in an ideal location and had everything you could want in a room, your own fridge, toilet, shower and tv and its a 2 star! Great breakfast as well included although the cost was not cheap it was worth it especially compared to many others. I will be staying at this place again and the view I had was one of the best yet, a very satisfied guest.

"average"

The Di-Ann hotel was nice but the rooms are tiny but ya can expect that. Was clean staff where friendly and helpful. location was really good close to everywhere perfect for what we wanted, rooms were really hot so we left both windows open which ment we had street noise which really was very disturbing but i would stay here again just something about it felt homely.

"Good value for money"

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and in a very good location, very close to all main attractions. The only minus about this hotel was the breakfast, very basic and self service. Apart from that we would definitely come back.

"mediocre"

in a world of cut throat competition, then the di-ann sits firmly on the fence. no great selling point apart from the fact that its available as a hotel. staff are friendly, location is ok, rooms are small and quite tired looking, but comfortable . the place is cheap, if you get it for the right price. shop around though, better is available at the same price.
