Pros: We were delghted to find that we had been booked into a large room with a balcony overlooking the canal and the tramstop bridge on the fifth floor. this meant that we got the view but not the noise. there was a lift, tea and coffee making facilities and a luggage store for before and after check-in.
staff were friendly and helpful. bed was comfortable and pillows great.
everything within easy reach by tram or walking.

Pros: Second time staying here and was very impressed; had a wonderful spacious room overlooking the city, the staff were polite and courteous and, as ever, the location cannot be faulted (for leidseplein). i would definitely (and have) recommended this hotel to others.

"Staff always very friendly and helpful"
Pros: Staff always very friendly and helpful.we thought the presentation of the whole building was beautiful. room excellent.
Cons: Pricing of breakfasts. i feel there should be one flat rate for breakfast. for 3 days we paid for a full breakfast and i didn't actually eat that much. on the 4th day we had the small breakfast - which was very near to what i ate for the full breakfast and of course paid much less.
the light system in the room seemed odd. we had to turn off the control switch at night to get darkness.
"Great location, we had a very large room overlooking the canal"
Pros: Great location, we had a very large room overlooking the canal. far enough away from the red light district to be pleasant, but within easy reach of everything.

"Both room and bathroom were ample in size--a lovely surprise compared to..."
Pros: Both room and bathroom were ample in size--a lovely surprise compared to other amsterdam hotels. we requested, and received, a room overlooking a canal, quite charming. the staff was friendly and helpful. the location is perfect for seeing museums, leidseplein, flower market, and rembrandstplein. this will be our hotel in amsterdam from now on.
Cons: Because of its location, there is a fair amount of street noise--trams, people. we did not find this to be a problem, but others might.
