The Dikker & Thijs Fenice hotel is located on one of the famous Amsterdam canals, the 'Prinsengracht', close to the Leidseplein with its brown cafés and international restaurants.
The hotel is situated in the ancient city centre within walking distance from the important museums and shopping areas.
How to reach the Dikker en Thijs Fenice Hotel?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take tram: 1, 2 and 5 from the square in front of the station to the Prinsengracht/Leidsestraat. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 1 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

Great location, we had a very large room overlooking the canal. far enough away from the red light district to be pleasant, but within easy reach of everything.hawley

Both room and bathroom were ample in size--a lovely surprise compared to other amsterdam hotels. we requested, and received, a room overlooking a canal, quite charming. the staff was friendly and helpful. the location is perfect for seeing museums, leidseplein, flower market, and rembrandstplein. this will be our hotel in amsterdam from now on.
Because of its location, there is a fair amount of street noise--trams, people. we did not find this to be a problem, but others might.Anonymous

Good position for visiting museums, galleries and for eating out.We were not impressed with this hotel. our room especially the bathroom was not 4 star quality. the bathroom fittings have seen much better days and in need of refreshing. the shower had no power to it and was impossible to adust. the smell from the internal drain in the bathroom was offensive with a permanent smell of raw sewage and made us feel sick - we complained but to no avail. for some reason the red bedspread was removed from the bed. we found it on the floor of the wardrobe! the walls in the hotel are thin - we could hear the people next door. we felt we were in a 2 star hotel not 4 star.Anonymous

I chose this hotel as a last minute change of mind and i was glad i did. the location was great, 2 minutes from leidseplein and not too far to dam square. the hotel itself was welcoming and quiet with friendly staff. had requested a smoking room with a canal view and got exactly that - lovely. nice big room en-suite room with lots of window light. biggest room i've ever stayed in in amsterdam! didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on that area. all in all a well recommended hotel at which i hope to stay again. jMoorehead

The room was noisy at night time as on the main road from the square, not able to sleep most of the night as the noise from the people leaving clubs and bars was excessive and no double glazing to stop the noiseAnonymous
