The hotel Hestia is easy to locate, just 5 minutes walk from Leidseplien. If traveling from Schiphol Airport, take the bus number197 to Leidseplien (taking approximately 15-20 minutes). The best option is to purchase a OV-Chip Card (pay as you go travel card) from the book store in Schiphol plaza. You can use this card on all public transport (including the trains and trams). The hotel is situated in a very leafy, quite street.The hotel it's self is quite small, and is very typical of a Dutch house with very steep stairs. (A lift is also available). The breakfast room is very pleasant, and you are also able to sit outside in the garden. Breakfast is continental (cold buffet type).The rooms are clean with adequate amenities, with the extra bonus of having a safe.The staff were not over friendly, but still informative, helpful and polite. I would both recommend and use this hotel again. Thank you. (Dank u wel).

The hotel is located 30 minutes you from the center, 5 minutes from Vondel Park, good service, hosted a nutritious breakfast.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Hestia for our silver wedding anniversary. Our large double room for the 3 night stay was very pleasant, having a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Breakfast is served in an airy, spacious room which opens onto the garden, and there's a good selection of breads, along with ham, cheese, cereal, fruit, eggs and yoghurt.The location of the hotel was ideal for us. It's in a lovely quiet street and is a very short walk to Leidseplein and all of the tourist attractions.The staff are wonderful - very helpful and accommodating and we will certainly stay there again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

We had a very large room with a double bed, a twin bed, and a table with 2 chairs. The bathroom was nice with a great shower (In a bathtub). We also had a patio with beautiful flower pots, table and 3 chairs over looking a garden where we watched several kinds of birds eating from the bird feeder.We also had a second room booked for our son and his friend with twin beds. Unfortunately, this room was uncomfortably small; likewise, the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.They provided us a cutting board, knife and wine corkscrew for an evening snack we purchased. They also served a nice breakfast where we looked out into the garden which was very beautiful.We walked everywhere - to restaurants as well as museums,etc. and felt very safe in this area. It was also convenient to catch a tram to tour other areas in the city.

Comfortable hotel. Decor dated but triple room on 1st floor was spacious. Ensuite clean and lots of hot water available. Shower attachment over bath. TV channels BBC 1&2 plus CNN. Minibar. Comfy beds, slept well. Quiet street. Hotel backed onto Vondelpark. Convenient to walk to Museum area, canal and boat trip, Leidesplein. Tram stops nearby. Friendly and helpful staff. Plentiful breakfast. Good value, would go again.

Only a short stay, but a warm friendly welcome despite a late arrival. Room a little dated in furnishings etc, but all clean and had pretty much everything you would need on a trip when you will be out all the time anyway. A bit cramped on the landing - a few doors banging about early morning with early risers. Great location- off the beaten track, but close to trams and nightlife.Decent breakfast.. Would return again rather than gamble elsewhere.

Pros: Majority of the staff were very polite and helpful, except one gentleman who complained that all the guests came down together, .

Pros: This hotel is very well positioned for access both to the museum district of amsterdam and the more lively areas in the centre. the nearby park is a lovely asset for walking off the effects of the night before. whilst the single rooms occupied by my companions and i were fairly small they were perfectly adequate for our needs. the breakfast (which was available between 7.30 and 10.30 am) was excellent with plenty of choice on an open buffet basis. perhaps the hotel's strongest aspect was the local knowledge (particularly of restaurants) pf karen and other reception staff. the hotel was also kept clean. overall we (a party of 5 60 year old male friends from england on a collective culture, eating/drinking and football experience) were very glad we had chosen the hestia and would happily recommend it to others.
