Hotel 83 Amsterdam    

Good friendly place to stay right in the center. When asked for info about tours or even the hospital, they where very helpful. Seems you only get a cooked brakfast if you come down at the start though. All in all was a nice stay.

Family run hotel with a fun atmosphere. Absolutely right in the centre of the red light district (which is also pretty much the centre of Amsterdam conveniently).Our room was huge and at the back of the hotel which meant a silent night which was very unexpected considering the location. Bathroom seemed to have been very recently refurbished, good shower, red hot water.If anything the room in winter was a bit too hot - we had to keep the windows open, but that's much better than being too cold.No TV/Radio/Tea making facilities in the room, but who needs them when you're in the centre of Amsterdam?Breakfast was included and ran to 11am which we almost managed to meet every day :) Free breakfast can save you a lot of money as Amsterdam is expensive.There is also a local supermarket just around the corner from the hotel so you can stock up on snacks/drinks for the room, it's right along an alleyway with transexual window 'girls' so it's an adventure just going shopping!24 hour reception means you can come and go at any hour and always feel safe when returning to the hotel, location means you can walk anywhere in the city, there is never any need to get a cab/tram - this will also save you money.When booking here we knew we were taking a risk, especially at new year, but it was half the price of the next hotel and worked out superb value for money. Would stay here again and recommend to friends.PS this place, for reasons we could not work out, has hilariously steep stairs, it's like climbing a ladder, but you soon get used to them, even when drunk!

Location !!!! There was a couple working on day, they was nice at least in what they could. At night water start to drop from 3º floor and we cannot sleep due the waterdrops.

The hotel was in a great position close to all amenities, but the staff where unfriendley and un helpfull. The heating was not on in the bedrooms and when we asked for it on we where told as it was summer it wasnt allowed on. Due to a medical condition I feel the cold and need to b e warm. The brekfast also had a lot of room for improvement.

Great location in the heart of the red light district. Hotel rooms basic but good value for money overall. Staff friendly and very helpful. Only negative is we were on the 3rd floor, up some very STEEP steps. Will keep you fit though! Recommended!!

Planned to arrive with 6 guys but had one extra and hostel provided bed. Will say there are some steep stairs but i think thats the deal if your want somewhere central. this please is right in the middle however is a 5 min walk from shopping centre.

Me and my friend wanted a cheap, small and centrallyLocated hotel and hotel 83 ticked all the boxes. It wasBang in the middle of all major attractions and was cleanAnd friendly. I am most definatly going to stay their againAs I love Amsterdam.

room was small and dull, only one light worked. Woke up next morning with my body and legs covered in bites. would never stay here again!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at hotel 83. As a group we wanted to be close to the acton which this hotel is. The rooms are basic with clean towl's and hot water which is all we needed and the late breakfast is perfect for such a location. The man at the desk is helpful, friendly and has a good sense of humer in perfect contrast to the night shift guy who shows none of these qualities. That aside if I am lucky enough to visit Amsterdam again I will be booking into this place without question.

Enjoyed the hotel, the room was basic but clean, the owners very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to leave luggage before our on-going trip which was very useful. Great location in the heart of Amsterdam. Breakfast was included and was excellent.

Pros: For us it was a moment of madness and a get away for a long weekend to somewhere, we went with pot luck and a suck it and see attitude in for a penny in for a pound. we were a bit apprehensive about the price, but all things considerd it was a bargin in the end. central to and for everything and all in walking distance, no other travel costs incured for the rest of our stay. none of this 7.30 to 9.00am early breakfast lark, a suitibale holiday time 9.00 till 11.00am continental and scrabled eggs, selection of breads and jams, sausages or cereal with excellent coffee or tea. right next door a bar with excelent evening menu and the best prices for food in the area, with an actual smoking area inside for both weed and normal (but you buy the weed elsewhere). we took the onsuite option and hell yeah worth every penny, it had a full wetroom (the whole room was a walk in shower) clean and well maintained, fresh towels every day and a heated towel radiator. the main room, large double bed and well heated room, with large windows. the staff, friendly and on occasison funny but always very helpfull and attentive, to top it all free wifi with a strong signal in all the rooms. so if your looking for a cheap hotel yes there are a few about there, but remember the other cost you will incure, like local travel, wifi and eating out if you miss breakfast is not cheap to eat out.
Cons: At first it seems very large and just an ordinary room, bed, wardrobe, 2 chairs and a few pictures, but with the walkin toilet/shower, wouldnt have changed it for the world. it is what it is a holiday room and you do tend to spend more time out than in. but we spent a cosiderable amount of time in and found it lacking only by way of a few creature comforts as in, tv, kettle, coffee and tea. but all available in the main reception/comunal area. so take a laptop with movies and music on it (even a travel kettle).

Cons: It is not a boutique hotel as web site may suggest but is cheap and cleaner than a hostel

Pros: Although in red light district, it was close to central station and central amsterdam shops,bars and restaurants.
plenty to eat for continental breakfast. bed clean and comfortable, bathroom modern.
Cons: Room smelt despite asking for non-smoking room,floor looked dirty.

Pros: The bathroom was clean and modern, the beds were clean and comfortable. cleaners come and change linen everyday.
Cons: The breakfast was not amazing as some of the food was not fresh. it says smoking room but it is not really, you have to smoke near the window, if the smoke alarm goes off then they charge you a fine even though they advertise a smoking room.
