Hotel Amstelzicht is a non smoking 3 star hotel located in the historical heart of Amsterdam behind the famous “Rembrandtplein”. Hotel Amstelzicht has a tasteful and warm atmosphere and is suitable for tourists because of the centrally location for shopping (Kalverstraat), Museums(Van Gogh), entertainment(Rembrandtplein) as well as business guests (RAI Exhibition Centre). The historical building where the hotel is located in, was build in 1659 and is totally renovated.
With the 17 rooms and 3 apartments, we are a small hotel and we created a warm a relaxing atmosphere. For us hospitality is the most important thing and therefore we hope that we may welcome you at Hotel Amstelzicht and give you a taste of our wonderful atmosphere. There is no elevator. Please note:

How to reach the hotel?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take metro: 51 and 54 from the square in front of the station to the Waterlooplein. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 3 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

Very friendly and helpful staff. excellent location, everything was within walking distance. the stairs are a bit on the steep side but never caused us a problem.
we went as a group of 10 young people and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves... highly recommended to others!Nikula

It was a surprise that there was a bar just below the living room of the canal view apartment. the noise is rather dominating for or those sleeping above the bar, and this first floor room is not suitable for a family with children. Anonymous

Nice price with friendly staff. the apartment was well stocked for the duration with towels and bedding. did not think the noise from the street was too bad, for a city centre location. the location is excellent with everything on your doorstep, very central. The hotel could use some maintenance and a lick of paint, but this is normal for amsterdam hotels.Porter

The only positive about the hotel was it's location and the view of the amstel canal.Negative, let me start. the first room we were given had no heat. they said they would fix it but that didn't happen. the french door had a huge hole that was caused from rot - we actually took some towels to stuff the hole so the wind wouldn't blow through. the door covering the fridge had broken off and was leaning up against the wall. the counter top was chipped and lifting off in areas. the bathroom sink on the main level didn't work and the bathtub/shower had no curtain so it went all over the floor. the second room we were given after out complaint about no heat had a huge leak in the roof/gutter area and leaked all over the curtains and table. we put towels up to help save as much as we could. the bathroom was in this unit was very pleasant to use as everything worked. the owner is extremely arrogant and argumentative. when we asked for compensation for our first night with no heat or amenities at this he got very angry. my family spent sometime in the hotel lobby on the internet and during that time listened to many hotel patrons complain to the desk clerk about the conditions of their rooms. if you are slightly handicapped this hotel is not for you. if you have mold alergies this hotel is not for you. the discoloration on the pillows would totally disgust you. the bed cover and blankets have been around for awhile as they are quite tattered. i'm not sure how this hotel has received such "great" reviews as anyone in their normal mind would realize that this hotel is only 1 star. the photos they have on their website are extremely misleading. i believe they took one room and staged it as the two rooms we stayed in didn't look anything like the one on the website. the owner told us that the rates were so cheap because the hotel needed upgrading and they were going to renovate. no where on their website was that mentioned. they were extremely misleading.Anonymous

The hotel had the perfect location, it was one minute walk from one of the main squares in amsterdam for night clubs and entertainment, it was also 5-10 minutes walk from red light. location 10/10Stairs are very steep so beware is if you have problems with stairsKurak

Having a spare room for us to stay.Sheets and room was quite dirty, only bathroom products supplied was 1 ply toilet paper and hand wash which they also put in the shower for you to wash yourself with. not enough privacy.Anonymous

Lovely view over canal at the frount of buildingThe stairs are like a ladder,try carring a suitcase up one and you'll understand,room check in 5pm and depart by 11am when you have to clean your own room,empty dishwasher,take rubbish down ladders (stairs)you basically do everything and lose your stay as the check out times are a rip off! our dishwasher was broken and full of dirty cutlery hotel did nothing and the other appartment we hired leaked,absolutely loads of water came splashing through ceiling and not just a trickle. we hired two canal view appartments which werent cheap and felt cheated,they were not up to standard we are bunch of 30 and 50 somethyings on a hen weekend and all were gutted over the rooms. staff were so so not brilliant but a little helpfull with sight seeing. great location i must add!!! will not be satying here again.. The staff were extemely friendly and helpful. even with my negative comments below - it is an inexpensive hotel which is right next to rembrant square and in front of the amstel which is good.We stayed in a quad room and unfortunatley it is right next to a bar that plays loud music into the early morning on some nights. there is also just one key for your room, although if you ask you can get a second set (not so great for 4 separate people).
they have no lift and evil amsterdam skinny steep stairs.Anonymous

The staff was very very friendly and helpfull in finding your way around amsterdam. the shower and the bathroom were also quite clean and tidy which most of us people do aprove of.There were unwashable stains on the cheets of the bed and some of the lamps didn't always work but those are minor remarks about the hotel, there is nothing else negatove to commend onJonas Johnsson

Enjoyed this hotel. the staff was very pleasant and helpful. we were always greeted with a smile and a willingness to help in whatever way possible. my room had an excellent view. the hotel was quaint and a bit of a tourist attraction as it is slanted and people from the canal were constantly taking pictures. also very centrally located which made getting around very, very easy. i travelled alone with with my 12 year old son and he appreciated all the english tv! the bathroom was spotless!
Could use new fabric on the headboard and a carpet cleaning.
