This hotel is centrally located along the Amstel River and between the Flower market and the Music theatre. Within walking distance of the hotel you can find all famous attractions for shopping, culture and entertainment. The RAI Exhibition Centre can be reached by tram in approximately 10 minutes.
How you can get to Hotel Amstelzicht
1) From Schiphol Airport:
Every 20 minutes a train runs from the airport to Amsterdam Central
Station. When you arrive at the airport, go to the central hall; there
is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central
station run from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2).
2) From Amsterdam Central Station: You can take metro 51 or 54 from the square in front of the station and get off at metro stop 'Waterlooplein'. From there you can walk to the hotel in approximately 3 minutes. The metros and trams in Amsterdam normally run from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

Cons: It held my money for for the booking for upto 7 days even though we had paid for the hotel in cash on arrival
Cons: No soap provided.
Cons: Electrics didn't work in room for first 3 hours but once fixed no problems at all
Cons: I'm reasonably fit but we were on the 3rd floor and the steps were many and narrow . not suitable to anyone less than fit. about 50 steps.
Cons: Blood stained bedding, dirty carpets, coffee spattered walls, room listed as double when it was a twin.

Cons: The carpet was kind of dirty in the room. there was only a sheet over the bed and a comforter, no middle sheet which would have been nice. the windows did not really close so it was extremely noisy as there are bars right beside the hotel - bring earplugs.
Cons: The double room at the back of building was very musty smelling and had worn and dirty carpet, the bathroom also smell of sewer. the smell is really unpleasant and we had to open the window whenever we are in the room. we also had 2 of the apartments which had lovely views and is spacious but as it was very noisey until the cafe/bar shuts at 2.30pm. we also had a mouse in one of the apartment. oh yes, the stairs are very steep.

Cons: Not sure the directions to the hotel were all that helpful. once at the metro station (waterlooplein) we had to be helped by two separate people because there was no map at the station itself and the walk from the station to the hotel is a deal longer than the stated 3 minutes. the worst aspect of the entire experience was the fact that we found to our dismay that the apartment we were in was directly above a gay night club (the hot spot) which is ludcicrously loud from 9.00 pm - 3.00 pm thurs - fri nights and until 4.00 am on sunday night. we have two children. i think this should have been made clear during the booking. i personally did not sleep for three nights!
Cons: The check in time was too late as our flight arrived at 9am, had trouble unlocking the door as the lock and key system turned an unusual way but once figured out, no problems!
Cons: Fairly noisy street, very steep and narrow stairs (definitely not for less than fit people).
