How to reach the Hotel Barbacan?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take metro: 51 and 53 from the square in front of the station to the Weesperplein. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 9 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

Spotless clean despite work needed to be done in the rooms; very quiet (on a little street and no cafe or other noise possible); very well situated for whoever wants to be around this residential area of amsterdam
and a positive surprise: the room i was finally allocated was with ensuite shower/wc, for the same price of the one i booked (with no ensuite wc/shower).
internet available for 2.50 euros the 30 minutes
good breakfast for seven euros value (continental plus ham and cheese, and fruits available on a 'help yourself' basis without limits in servings)The hotel needs work, but the price indicates it really. so people going there should not expect luxury three stars hotel facilities. but if one is not bothered by appearances then the hotel is perfectAnonymous

Large windows so you could have a contact with the outside world.False mentioning that it offered wifi access. it did not have a wifi hot spot. if i knew it from the very beginning i would not book the specific hotel, as it was far from the centre. in addition, the attitude of the hostess was horrible. when mentioned that this was the main reason for booking the specific hotel she laughed at me and told me to call my lawyer if i had any issues with the facilities. i have already informed my lawyer now that i returned back home and we will ask for a refund.blakemore

The staff were friendlyOur room was on the ground floor, and had very little light and very gloomy. the room was very grubby, remoye for the tv missing, no toileties or tea coffe making. also very cold at night - it felt like we had been put into the staff quarters - not very impressed. if we return to amsterdam we would definately stay in a different hotel. Value for money. we booked a room for seven and it wasn't as cramped as i expected it to be. 24 hour access.Our room was beneath the staircase and not sound proofed so noisy, roof tiling falling part, lumpy mattresses. Anonymous
