 "Thank you"
Responsive all-knowing staff. The room was small but cozy. Close to the museums. Nearby the great restaurant "De Knijp" you should definitely visit! One minus - sometimes there was a smell of cigarettes, apparently from another room.Hope to stay at another time!

"Looking for a well placed budget hotel in Amsterdam, with an elevator - this is the one!"
Looked through many hotels (around 100) before narrowing down the search to 11, and then finally, the only one left that ticked the boxes we needed, was Hotel Bronckhorst. If you have the same boxes to tick (or many of them) - then read the review & go for this hotel.1) Wanted a 3 bedded room (2 singles pushed together, and one for our daughter)2) Near Museum quarter (good for Rijksmuseum, Museum van Gogh)3) Neither cheap nor expensive (budget for all 3 of us max of 100euro per night)4) ELEVATOR - nearly all Amsterdam hotels have sheer, narrow stairs - not good if you're knackered after a long day on your feet - and certainly not if you've lung problems like I have.5) Own bathroom - had shower, sink & toilet en-suite. (Many places in this range will have a shared bathroom).6) Breakfast - or at least access to some. (Optional at 7.50euro pp here).24/7 front desk with security bell. Tucked in little street off of main tram route. Bonuses included Cafe Wildschut opposite - 2 mins away on other side of road. Lovely food. Also just 5 minute stroll away from the Concertgebouw - who happened to have the Amsterdam Philharmonic playing whilst there (around 15euro inc. a drink before & at interval). A supermarket open till 10pm is a short walk away on the corner of Museumplein. Great for the trams. #'s 5 & 24 from Centraal Station - the end of the line - and where you will come in from Schiphol if flying or coming by train. About 20 mins away. Can catch #16 too, which will get you to the Concertgebouw, only 5 mins away. Nice little Cafe Lusthof - open till 12am on way from there. There is a supermarket open till 10pm on the corner nearest hotel by Museumplein.Negatives? Yes the mattresses are soft as reported elsewhere, but didn't bother us. Neither did the noise of the trams (you get used to it & will be the same unless you are right out of the way. Ear plugs for us - not a problem as 1 of us snores!) :D Breakfast you pay for, is cereal or fruit or croissants, no problem. No kettle, but coffee & tea downstairs in basement room where breakfast is. All in all, good value for placement, service and facilities. Go for it (unless you plan spending half your time in the hotel!). Great 'crash pad', clean & tidy enough, big enough (they're all small in Amsterdam). Just be aware of this before you come. Recommended, and thanks Hotel Bronckhorst!

 "Good Hotel"
good small hotel. friendly reception staff. breakfast fine. Bit expensive - this this may reflect the central location. Only slight problem was the tap on the shower - difficult to adjust the temperature!
