The hotel enjoys a very practical location: it is situated within 10 minutes walking distance of Amsterdam Central Station and several tram stops are to found in front of the hotel. Moreover, the hotel is close to many of Amsterdam's touristic sights and attractions. Around the canal ring you will find several museums, cafés, terraces, pubs, lounge bars, comedy clubs, shops, boutiques and outlet stores, offering recreation of every sort and for every taste.
How to reach the Hotel Citadel?From Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to the next step).
From Amsterdam Central Station: You don't have take the tram, you can walk to the hotel in approximately 10 minutes. If you do wish to take a tram you can take trams numbers 1, 2, 5, 13 or 17 from Central Station. The first stop drops you at the front door of the Hotel Citadel. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

This hotel is super basic, the breakfast is extremely basic and the coffee is horrible. however, accommodations in amsterdam are never great nor cheap, the location of this hotel is superb!
The beds weren't super comfortable and the room doesn't lend itself to business travelers.Turner

On arrival the main and table light was not working, i reported this to reception, but when i returned on the evening it had not been attended to.the only way i could see was to leave the bathroom door open.when i told reception again on the morning di,nt seem to bother much.for e120, thought this was shocking.Anonymous

Very clean bathroom, warm beds and a good size tv and storage space.The room was quite cold, there was only one plug that worked in the three bed room that we stayed in, the sink and shower took quite a long time to drain and finally i would not recommend it to anyone whom is scared of lifts.
overall, apart from a few minor negative things, i thought it was a very nice hotel and i would deffinately stay there again!Anonymous

Hotel was in the perfect location. staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Not the hotel's fault but very load family located next door to us who thought it was acceptable to yell along the corridor at about 0700-0800. some areas of hotel could do with a spruce up as paint work grubby. found out whilst we were out there standard cost of twin room 90 euros, we paid 175 euros per night which seems excessive just because of it being around queens day. Good breakfast buffet. hotel very easy to find and in a good location. room was warm and tv selection was good.Only issue would be the floor of the bathroom gets very wet as the shower is on the same level as the bathroom floor, meaning the room gets very wet each time you have a shower.
